The aim this study was to describe profile obstetric valvular patients who delivered via caesarean section at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. Methods: A retrospective done using patient record files, anaesthetics forms echocardiogram reports. period 5-year review from January 2016 December 2020. Results: Sixty-nine were included. mean age ± SD in 30.1 5.6. total 83% had gravidity 1-3 90% parity 0-2. Majority (57%) elective section. General anaesthesia most common mode used majority fixed interval analgesia (FIA) postoperatively. Approximately half (40.5%) on anticoagulants. significantly higher percentage those needed anticoagulation (46%) poorer when compared did not (7%), (P<0.001). This univariable association between maternal outcome NYHA class lack use anticoagulants [aOR 3.77, 95% CI 1.45 - 9.79, P=0.006 aOR 0.11, 0.018 0.67, P=0.017, respectively]. Low ejection fraction univariably associated foetal outcome, uOR 0.94, 0.90 0.99, P=0.032. One (1%) foetus demised. Conclusion: Patients younger relatively good functional status. They carried pregnancies term. experience related bleeding arrythmias predominantly, but none neonate lost. structured care plan for these patients, based multidisciplinary approach, afford prehabilitation is necessary.
